We worked with Justin for our wedding. He came HIGHLY recommended from friends and other vendors alike, and we were lucky enough to have him reserved (but had to do so way ahead of time!). He certainly lived up to the billing. He was very responsive over emails and Skype before the wedding, and delivered a very upbeat and positive night for the reception. People came to us multiple times through the night about how awesome he was!! He is a great DJ and very fun party emcee that appropriately balances his interaction with the crowd without being too obtrusive. He was awesome!!! Thanks Justin!!!

We absolutely LOVED working with Paradox productions, specifically DJ O.G. One! You're reading this review and one thing you need to know about me is that I LOVE to dance, so choosing a top notch DJ was essential for my big day. As a consumer and bride-to-be, there are several reasons why I would choose Paradox all over again. First of all, they are extremely timely and responsive. Many vendors in the wedding industry lag on responses and can hold up your timeline, thus adding to your stress level and making the planning process difficult - NOT Paradox. Jen is always on top of her emails and is extremely accommodating when it comes to planning and coordination. Secondly, the seamless online planning platform was very helpful - it was easy to navigate and very comprehensive. Here you can submit your timeline, special requests, various music lists and make payments. Everything is SO EASY. Finally, I need to give major credit to DJ O.G. One who kept our dance floor crazy fun and was a great at reading the crowd. Prior to the big day, we met with O.G. One and he asked all the right questions about our wants and needs, and more importantly, he actively listened to our responses. He is the official DJ for the Portland Trail Blazers and was absolutely incredible at our reception. We received endless compliments on the music, the energy and the vibe of our reception and that is owed to DJ O.G. One and Paradox.

DJ Lure was outstanding. He was professional, yet fun and personable. He was great to meet with leading up to the day, and was flexible and timely the day of. Our guests had a fantastic time on the dance floor, which was our goal! Thank you, DJ Lure and Paradox!
DJ RPM helped make our reception flow in an intriguing, lively, effective way that we could have never done on our own. He had wonderful ideas and suggestions from his years of experience. He was open to meeting with us and conversing over FaceTime as me and my fiancé were not local. He was so flexible, professional and responsive. We also used up-lighting which RPM set up as well- SO pretty and added a nice touch to our venue. Everyone commented on how fun our wedding was and the dance floor was packed all night long which wouldn't have been possible w/o him. Paradox Productions was great from minute one. I forget the woman we spoke with initially, but she was very pleasant to work with and really made us feel comfortable and excited about using this company. We never felt pressured which was a relief. She was the one who ultimately set us up with RPM based on our taste. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Since this is one of the most important days of your life, you will no doubt taste every wedding delicacy in town, try on insane amounts of dresses, spend weeks designing centerpieces and personally make every trinket; only to hand all this hard work over to someone who you “HOPE” will pull it all together exactly how you have dreamed. If all the hard work you put into your wedding day is marred by the memories of how bad it turned out, then you officially just wasted a year of your life. Your DJ can make or break your wedding. Research shows that the number one thing guests remember about a wedding is how fun it was, or wasn’t. The food can be succulent, the decor can be amazing and you can look like a supermodel. But if your guests are bored out of their minds, or forced to sit through awkward, nervous, and weird announcements made by a less than average professional, you will be left feeling like this person was responsible for ruining your wedding. Who’s going to have the mic all night? Who’s going to make sure the transition between cake cutting and first dance, and every other transition are seamless? Who’s going to be announcing you as newlyweds for t he first time to a room full of family and friends? Who’s gonna get your guests up on their feet and onto the dance floor with you? Will they sound, look and feel like every other lame and cheesy wedding DJ you’ve seen? It’s a big deal, and a big responsibility.
What sets Paradox Productions apart?
The standard expectations of a DJ are so low that most people assume all DJs are the relatively the same and "just play music." Therefore, the typical company employs individuals with little to no MC or DJ experience and that is exactly what they do, "just play music" (most don't consider simply announcements (i.e. open buffet, etc...) as "hosting" or "emceeing"). This ensures a quality control and consistency that may meet this low standard of expectation, but can produce an insincere and/or cheesy presentation that may have your guests scanning for the nearest exit after your cake cutting. This would be considered the "cookie cutter" approach.
The Paradox approach is to offer an experienced and talented roster of professional, reputable working DJ's with a variety of different styles, tastes and skill sets. Paradox DJs hold positions at the top level wedding venues, radio stations (Live 95.5, Z-100, Jammin' 107.5), sports arenas (Trailblazers / Timbers) and entertainment destinations in Portland, OR and SW Washington. "As turntable-mix DJs, we will actually blend each song together, meaning the music literally never stops once the party kicks off. This removes the uncomfortable silence or “dead-air” between each song, and is one of the most effective ways to keep your cocktail hour fresh and your dance floor packed!! Weddings present an audience of various ages and backgrounds and we can mix different eras and genres together so there will be music for ALL of your guests. By utilizing talent with technology we can modernize classic songs while maintaining the original integrity so everyone can sing-a-long to "Don't Stop Believing" without feeling like your wedding is taking place in 1981. We strive to "think outside the box" whenever possible to provide a unique experience that will have your guests saying "that was the best wedding ever!!
We can’t truly represent Paradox Productions without shouting out our DJ manager Jen. Before pairing clients with a DJ she takes the time out to chat with the couples and really feel out what they’re looking for so we can link them with the perfect DJ from our roster to fit their needs.
How do we get people involved at your event?
It’s all about the right music at the right time! However, to ensure we are fully prepared, we provide custom online planning tools and meet with our clients multiple times. This helps us to personally connect with our clients, and ultimately their guests, providing a comfortably entertaining environment.
A few of our favorite ways to involve guests w/out “pressuring” for participation...
Invite other Fathers/Daughters & Mothers/Sons to join dances 1/2 way through each song.
Reverse Anniversary Dance - Build your dance floor by counting down and inviting to dance floor the longest married couples, and then inviting all guests to join prior to songs conclusion. Then we drop Uptown Funk ;-)
Football for garter toss (& liquor prize?)
Fun (brain teaser) Trivia for buffet dismissal
Newlywed Shoe Game, etc...
Pin the tail on the Donk.... no, no, just kidding, we keep it classy!
We tend to shy away from things that may be considered cliche and/or “corny” in an effort to avoid what we call “wedding deja vu.” We are not music snobs by any means, but think it is important for every wedding to have a unique soundtrack that represents the unique personalities of our clients.
There is no comparison to the joy it brings when we can exceed your expectations and make your dreams come to true on one of the most memorable days of your life. will ever experience. Weddings bring about of sense of "higher purpose" to what we do. Having the privilege of making a positive and memorable impact on you "once in a lifetime" experience is so rewarding at the end of the day. As individuals, the pressure and extent of responsibility that lies in our hands as your wedding host/mc and DJ, motivates and inspires us to continually improve and develop our skills as DJ entertainers and business professionals.
Overall, the key to a successful wedding is Rhythm, flow, timing, detailed planning, good food/drink, a polished MC/host and great music played by a great DJ!
Let's face it, your DJ can make or break your wedding. That’s why when we say, “paradox” we mean this is your chance to work with a DJ that is exactly what you’re looking for. Paradox Wedding DJs pride ourselves in providing a modern style service, blended seamlessly with the highest levels of professionalism and talent.
