Q&A With DJ Lure:

Q: What inspired you to start DJing?
A: I have always loved music and have played musical instruments since I was a kid starting with piano, moving onto playing the guitar as a teenager. In middle school a couple of friends of mine assembled a band and played a few birthday parties, we thought we were pretty cool, it didn’t last too long but it was definitely fun. But what inspired me to learn how to DJ was going to concerts and events and seeing how one person behind the decks could move a crowd as much as a band could. When I saw that it really motivated me to dive right in and start learning about it.

Q: Best DJ experience?
A: A few years back when I first graduated Spun Academy I got my first booking at the Chesterfield and was a little nervous being that it was my first club experience, but none the less I was excited. After warming up with a few slower tracks I started to put the set into drive, at that point I look up and notice the dance floor filling up. This energy motivated me and the set turned out perfect. I thrive off of crowd response and read the crowd well.

Q: How would you explain your musical taste?
A: I have always loved classic hip hop and house music, but I never limit myself to one style of music. I have done sets that have consisted of all types of music, from top 40 to 80’s hair band rock. I have a taste for all types of music, no matter what genre of music it is
